Ⅱ、Seawater intrusion reaction

The investigation of vertical conductivity of chloride ion concentration profile is the basis of regular survey.

There is a close relationship between conductivity and salinity.

The Electrical Resistivity Tomography-ERT is the best method to measure conductivity.

Ⅲ、Early warning & monitoring well pattern of seawater intrusion

EM

The team intends to use the inductive electromagnetic wave survey method (EM) to investigate the working area, obtain the conductivity distribution of the stratum plane of the project area, and then set the ERT and SP lines to the high potential position, which has reached the goal of the early warning network.

EM Method

TLERT

According to Archie’s law, the saturated soil resistivity is affected by both the geologic factor (a/m) and the pore water resistivity (w). If the resistivity data measured at the same line at different times is availiable for the difference in pore water resistivity between the data before and after, the difference between the two data can be used to find out whether the groundwater changes due to salinization.

ERT Method

Monitor SP

The self-potential method (SP) is a passive measurement technique, indicating taht it does not actively generate a disturbance source, and only measures the potential characteristics existing in the natural world. In the application of saltwater intrusion, it is mainly to obtain the potential generated by the flow of salt water to the wellhead including the electromotive and electrochemical interactions. The measured result is expressed by the spatial distribution of the potential difference, and the difference of the plane distribution can be applied to the detections of seepage path and seepage flow direction.

Ⅳ、The application of novel technology

1)Assist in Jordan project investigation.

2)Confirm the location of seawater intrusion.

3)The novel SP signal technology.

4)Particularly, the horizontal loop inductive electromagnetic wave (EM) is added to determine the location of seawater invasion.

5)The Time Lapse ERT technique is especially used to monitor potential seawater intrusion sites more than twice.

6)To apply real-time monitoring techniques to the self-potential method (SP) can continously monitor the planned area.
